Nightlife - The extraordinary life of Hubert Wilkins and his adventures, our solar power future, what's hot on our screens with Wenlei Ma

FIRST HOUR - SOLAR ENERGY FUTURE - Amid the talk of energy gaps in coming years, some see the need for a nuclear solution. But what of our already progressive solar rooftop scheme? Quarterly installations of new solar panels reached a record at the end of 2023, with Australian households more than three times as likely to have a photovoltaic system as a back yard swimming pool. Finn Peacock, founder of Solar Quotes, author of The Good Solar Guide, and electrical engineer joined Philip Clark on Nightlife to discuss why Australians continue to add solar to their roofs.

SECOND HOUR - NIGHTLIFE NEWS BREAKDOWN - Paul Bongiorno, veteran political reporter of 30+ years experience and columnist for The Saturday Paper and the New Daily.

SECOND HOUR - NIGHTLIFE HISTORY - Sir Hubert Wilkins was simply a remarkable Australian of the 20th century who had extraordinary life. A polar explorer, embarking on nine expeditions to Antarctica. His pioneering spirit led him to achieve the first airplane flight across the Arctic. During World War I, Wilkins displayed courage as a war photographer, capturing the essence of the conflict. Advocating for the rights of Indigenous Australians and the Arctic communities. He stood by the belief that we could be better as a society if we took care of the environment and understood it more. Historian and Author of The Illustrated Sir Hubert Wilkins, Jeff Maynard joined Philip Clark to reveal his remarkable adventurous exploits.

SECOND HOUR - SCREEN STUFF WITH WENLEI MA  - Film and television critic Wenlei Ma joined Philip Clark to review the latest on our screens, big and small.  This week: Wicked Little Letters, Palm Royale and 3 Body Problem.

THIRD HOUR - THE CHALLENGE

FOURTH HOUR -  ISSUE OF THE DAY: Brisbane Broncos coach Kevin Walters has banned his team from talking about their loss in last year's NRL grand final against Penrith. What do you think about that psychological approach to a loss? Just don't talk about it and move on? Plus, how many languages can you speak? And did you learn a language at school that you still use?

FOURTH HOUR - NIGHTLIFE SPORT NEWS - Sports Broadcaster and Author Warwick Hadfield joined Philip Clark on Nightlife to discuss the latest news and issues in sport.
