FIRST HOUR - THE EVOLUTION OF THE CONVENIENCE STORE - Old corner shops of our childhood seem to have disappeared and replaced by franchise convenience stores and petrol station servos. Nightlife looks at how convenience stores have evolved from the friendly face behind the counter that offered up everything from a milkshake to a bag of lollies, and what the future of the local store looks like. Are they still an integral part of our local community?

Hazem Sedda, Owner of Redfern Convenience store, Theo Foukkare, CEO of the Australian Association of Convenience Stores and Hollie Fox, Site Operator of Fox’s Pantry, on the Gold Coast joined Philip Clark to discuss the economic and social forces that have brought about these changes.

SECOND HOUR - NIGHTLIFE NEWS BREAKDOWN - Ron Mizen, Senior Political reporter Australian Financial Review.

SECOND HOUR - NIGHTLIFE ECONOMICS - Why has the RBA put yet another rate rise on us all, even though inflation is dropping? ABC Business and Finance Editor Ian Verrender joined Philip Clark on Nightlife to discuss the implications.

SECOND HOUR - NIGHTLIFE HEALTH - If you're a woman in your early 50s, how do you know that you're in menopause? Professor Susan Davis is Head of the Monash University "Women's Health Research Program" and she argues that the current definition of menopause is fairly arbitrary and joined Philip Clark to discuss her latest research.

THIRD HOUR - THE CHALLENGE

FOURTH HOUR - ISSUE OF THE DAY - The PM arrived in China over the weekend for a meeting of the highest level with China's premier Li Qiang and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit marked the 50th anniversary of Gough Whitlam's historic 1973 trip to China. Are Chinese-Australian relations getting back on track? What do you think it reveals about the PM's capacity to manage international relations?
