The Buoys brought a bit of their live show jam band energy to the Like A Version studio with their impressive run at Olivia Rodrigo's 'vampire'.
The Sydney four-piece picked up the one track from her 2023 album GUTS that wasn't as rock-driven as the rest of the record and went to work.
"It's a sort of a slower song, so we sped it up," guitarist Hilary Geddes said.
"The breakdown in the middle is pretty fun. When we play live we sort of jam out a fair bit on stage so that was our little take on that here in the studio."
In case you were wondering, they've got a name for that treatment, too.
"We call it 'Buoys-ifying'," singer Zoe Catterall said.
"So we 'Buoys-ified' it."
Despite the Buoys-ification of Olivia Rodrigo's monster hit, they still felt a little intimidated to take on the work of such an incredible artist - especially considering they're massive fans of hers.
"Olivia is a gun," Zoe said.
"Such a weapon. So talented. It was terrifying doing this song because of how good of a singer she is."
Guess we'll be seeing these Livies at her shows in October then?
