Federal funding blitz continues in the NT

The NT and federal governments have announced an extra $1 billion will be spent to fully fund the Northern Territory's public schools, with a promise the most disadvantaged schools will be prioritised first.

Some of the poorest classrooms in the country are in for a big injection of funds, with the Commonwealth pledging to double its funding of schools in the Northern Territory.

It's the latest in a blitz of announcements that Labor says shows it's serious about closing the gaps of Indigenous disadvantage.

But advocates for the Indigenous Voice to Parliament are listening closely for hints at the bigger picture of the government's broader policy direction, following the referendum defeat.
