The Goodlife and Indonesian Islam

Indonesia is the world's largest democracy- and also the world's largest Muslim majority nation. With over 2 hundred million Muslims, and a long and complex history, aspects of Ramadan in Indonesia reflect a great deal about the character of Indonesia. The end of Ramadan is near- and the final day - Eid - has it's own uniquely Indonesian home-grown name- Lebaran. Lebaran is a holiday - not unlike Christmas celebrations for Christians.

I went off to a Ramadan iftar meal (breaking the fast) at the Indonesian consulate in Maroubra, Sydney, to learn a little more about the unique nature of Indonesian Islam through its celebration of Ramadan and its festival end.
