What's On the ABC Island
Aunties Building Challenge
The building challenge allows participants the chance to compete against each other in a themed building event. Participants will be allowed 30 minutes to build an item associated with the theme. At the end of the time limit, participants then vote for the best builds. The winner of each group will win "bragging rights" and their build will be displayed for the next fortnight on ABC Island.
It does not matter if you are old or new, there are categories for both, so there is no excuse not to come along and join in with the ABC Island Second Life community.

Spring Racing Carnival hits Melbourne Laneways this Wednesday 7 November 7:00pm EDT (Tuesday 6 Nov 12am PST).

"The Librarians" discussion on ABC Island in Second Life
In conjunction with the launch of the 'The Librarians' a new six-part comedy series from ABC TV, The ABC Island is hosting a moderated chat with Emerald Dumont - a librarian avatar from the Australian Libraries Building. The chat will take place in the Melbourne Laneways precinct of the ABC Island.

Melbourne Laneways Launch Party
Held on Thursday 4 October at 7:00pm (EST), the launch party was hosted by ABC's Fenella Kernebone from Sunday Arts. The event showcased the rationale and build process for Melbourne Laneways with in-world speeches from Multimedia Victoria and the developers.
The event also featured special presentations from famous photographer Willam Yang and digital orboticist, Matthew Gardiner who both gave an introduction to their exhibits at the Melbourne International Arts Festival. The event finished with a fireworks display and a chance to walk through Melbourne's Laneways.
