Students hope to beat solar boat record

Students from Prince Alfred College in Adelaide are hopeful of breaking a solar boat world record set by a solar expert in New South Wales.

The students on Sunboat II have crossed the New South Wales border yesterday afternoon.

They hope to travel 4,000 kilometres on their voyage along the River Murray.

The previous record of three thousand 330 kilometres was set on the Hawkesbury River by Dr Frank Wheeler.

The students designed and built the boat.
