The Royal Commission into the Black Saturday bushfires had some special visitors this week, from a community devastated by the fires almost a year ago.

Six children from Strathewen Primary School travelled to Melbourne to have morning tea with the Commissioners, and to see the artwork they produced for the Commission's foyer.

Three schools were destroyed on Black Saturday, at Kinglake, Marysville and Strathewen.

We hear about the community effort to rebuild Strathewen Primary from the inspiring teaching Principal, Jane Hayward.

Students from France's Villers-Bretonneux raised $20,000 for Strathewen Primary School.

Money raised by the children of Victoria helped rebuild the French school destroyed in 1918.
