Next Sunday is the first anniversary of the Black Saturday bushfires. Communities devastated by the fires are slowly being rebuilt but will they be better prepared next time?

Psychologist and ecologist Danielle Clode looks at how individuals and communities can reduce the risk and asks why lessons and warnings from past catastrophic fires haven't been heeded.

She lives on a bush block below the Kinglake Ranges.
