The Effects of Unfair Dismissal Laws on Small Business

The Federal Government has been trying to reform the nation's unfair dismissal laws since it came into office in 1996. It wants to exempt small business and has tried to pass the relevant legislation on several occasions. Each time Labor and the Democrats have blocked the move in the Senate.

As part of its continuing push the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations commissioned an independent academic report on the effect of unfair dismissals on small and medium business.

The results have just been released.
