The Yakuza, Japan's organised crime clans, have long been a source of fascination in the west.
Jake Adelstein has covered the Yakuza since the early 1990's, including 16 years at Japan's biggest newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun. He wrote about his career in Tokyo Vice, which was turned into a hit TV series.
Tokyo Noir is his latest book and it covers his life post-journalism, though encounters with the Yakuza are still plenty.
